So it's been a while since my last post. Sorry to all my few loyal followers who were anxious to see how else I was going to use my Pumpkin Butter. I have found that it tastes fantastic as a compliment to peanut butter. I put it on a whole wheat english muffin with bananas and PB -- ate it like a sandwich. It was delicious.
Another oh-so-very delicious concoction I made with the Pumpkin Butter was a twist on the PB&J a la Heather from Trials of Training -- warm apples + PB + Pumpkin Butter + agave syrup on bread. I was too excited to eat it to take a picture. By the time I thought of it, it was already sitting in my tummy. The key here: definitely warm up the apples. I put them in the toaster oven with the bread.
Just me reverting back to childhood years in the Upper West Side before the 10-miler.
I spent the weekend in NYC. It was the first time I had been back since moving, and it was nice to get back up there. I stayed with my good friend Allison in her new apartment on the Upper West Side. We had a blast -- finished 10 miles in Central Park on Saturday before going out for our friend Christine's birthday.
After dinner, we went to Madame Geneva's. It's a speakeasy-type bar with a secret entrance. Can you see the door knocker? That's the entrance to the bar. It is in the back of a restaurant called Double Crown. They are famous for their vodka/gin and jam drinks. I had the pineapple flavor. Yummy. Unfortunately, the reviews we had read said that this was an intimate setting, but once we got in to the secret bar, we were standing shoulder-to-shoulder with everyone else, and it took almost 30-40 minutes to get one drink. It was ridiculous. Glad we went, drinks were good, but atmosphere was more than sub-par.
